Malta's Megalithic Marvels

Malta's megalithic temples belong to -so it is said- the oldest buildings in the world. Older than Stonehenge and even older than the pyramids they are: the ancient temples for the Magna Mater (Great Mother) on the islands Gozo and Malta. Many questions will stay unanswered as the templebuilders left no written evidence of their existence. All we have left are millenia old buildings, mostly built in pairs. Some of them completely ruined and some in an amazing good shape and with artefacts within the chambers.

On these pages I will try to give as much information on the temples as I can. The information comes from books, websites and all I could gather while I was in Malta for a holiday. As you will see, many of the pictures about Tarxien, Hagar Qim and Mnajdra come from my own photo album, pictures of other temples are either from the internet or scanned from books and leaflets.
